CHRISTMAS IN COLOMBIA AND IRELAND

ACTIVITIES AND DECORATE

Ireland is in United Kingdom and Colombia is in South America. For Christmas in Colombia the families make the Crib, Christmas Tree with many color lights and they decorate all house with Christmas objects like figures of Saint Claus and bells, the colors use are green, red, white and blue; also families do THE NINTH that is for remember the history of Son of God arrival, from December 16 to December 24.

In Ireland make the Crib like principal decorates, but some people also make Christmas tree. Both countries celebrate on December 8th, The Candles day in Colombia where all families light candles and lanterns and in Ireland the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, is a Catholic Church holiday and Catholic Schools close all day, but shopping centers and stores not close, because this day begins the shopping season.

TRADITIONAL FOOD AND DRINK

In Colombia people cook Ajiaco or Tamal accompanied by chocolate and French bread, the most popular desserts are buñuelos, cornstarch pudding and sometimes cookies; they drink beer and aguardiente or some people drink wine or champagne.

In Ireland people cook Goose; this is the most traditional food, roast turkey and ham too, accompanied by bread stuffing, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, gravy and sometimes cranberry or bread sauce. There are different posibilities about desserts, like Christmas pudding, mince pies or a slice of Christmas cake.

MY FAVORITE BAND - METALLICA

Metallica has been consider that the best and the most popular band of the Heavy Metal from 20 years ago until now. This band began in 1981, with Lars Ulrich the Drummer (born on December 26 of 1963 in Denmark) and James Hetfield the lead vocals and guitar (born on August 3 of 1963 in USA). Then they recruited to Ron McGovney and Dave Mustain for they played guitar and bass guitar. Metallica did the first track called "No Life´till Leather". In San Francisco they found Cliff Burton, the best bass player at the moment and He joined Metallica. When John Zazula invited their to New York for record an album, Jaimes decided to dismiss Dave, because they had problems and the band prefered look after other bass player and they found Kirk Hammett. Metallica recorded the first album in 1983 called “KILL’EM ALL” with a heavy sounds and very frantic.

Metallica has recorded approximately 9 albums, the most prominent for the fans of heavy metal has been “MASTER OF PUPPETS”, a lot of remembered because this promotional tour, the band suffered an accident and Cliff Burton died. Other prominent album has been “…AND JUSTICE FOR ALL”, was darker than others, with social criticism.

Metallica accompanied by Bob Rock produced “THE BLACK ALBUM”, with songs like Enter Sandman, Holier than Thou, Sad but True, The Unforgiven and Nothing else matters. This album has been the soldest in many time with 500.000 copies in its first week in United States.

Metallica has obtained awards like Grammy to the best execution metal for songs like One (1989), Stone Cold Crazy (1991), The Black Album (1992), Better than you (1999), St. Anger (2004); MTV Video Music Awards with the best metal video for Enter Sandman (1992); American Music Awards with the most favorite metal song for Until It Sleeps and Governor´s Award in 2004. This band has traveled around Europe and South and North America. Only once Metallica has been in Colombia on May 2 of 1999, it was exiting and an unforgettable experience.

E-MAIL TO MY FRIEND

In the University we had a match of soccer and fortunately we won the Championshep. It´s was amazing because the other team was strong and very good trained, but in the second time we scored 2 goals. Then we went to celebrate to Wilson´s house.

And for Christmas my family and I´m going to make the christmas tree and we are going to decorate all the house. We are going to cook traditional food like cornstarch pudding and buñuelos.

I´m going to finish succesful my career and I´m going to get better grades and then I´m going to make a specialization in Finance. I´m studying Languages because It´s important for my profession and It like me. I´m going to work for a few years in Colombia in a Multinational Company and I get more experience for I´m going to get an excellent job or I´m going to travel to Europe and maybe I´m going to stay there, in someone country and I´m going to take my family.
